From Chuck

This is such a great privilege to be part of this pilgrimage, though it is not so much the holy places themselves that captures my excitement; it’s the whole idea of pilgrimage, being able to devote time and thought to the core stories of my faith. During this stage of our journey I am drawn frequently to the Sea of Galilee—being around the lake, seeing it from different places, taking in a panoramic view of the lake and countryside, drawing close to the water—pondering the ministry of Jesus that took place close to these shores and in some cases on the lake with the disciples. Here is where the stories and traditions of Jesus began as Jesus healed and taught and proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God in the towns and villages of Galilee. There is a rich memory that is part of the ground, the air, the water, the place. It is a place where faith and hope can be nurtured and born anew. This is a time for me to reflect on the course of my life and faith in light of the Jesus stories that come to life in fresh ways by pondering them in the very place where they originated. It is helpful to reflect on these experiences in community with a diverse group of Christian pastors. Our sharing prompts new insights and opportunities to grow.
