Good Morning from Zippori

Ever read about this place in the Bible? Me neither! So why would a group of pastors on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land visit there? That's what I wondered. It's not in the Bible and I can't say I've ever really heard the place before today. But the presence of God was found there too. Mosaics uncovered during a dig depicting the lives of those who lived in Jesus' day. Ruts worn into the stone road through the middle of town by the continuous passing of Roman chariots. Signs of the lives of those who lived in the holy land centuries ago. The ruins of a citadel from the times of the crusades overlooking the land all the way to the sea. The ruins of a synagogue containing a mosaic of the Jewish Madonna. Signs of our faith. The building of our faith through the years. Someone said earlier today that when one goes on a pilgrimage it isn't the traveler who finds God but it is God who finds us. It's good to know that God is still seeking us after all these centuries, through all these lives, through all this history, through all our unfaithfulness, in all the lands in which we now live.

Still trying to discern the meaning of holy places. Holding all in my prayers.

Peace, Fran
